I don't get the paper so my sister gave me Saturday's Pekin Times and said to read the obituary section. I looked and saw that she had marked Michael Hodapp's obituary with a note saying, "Luella's nephew". I called her and asked her how she knew that I knew Mr. Hodapp and she responded that she didn't know. She only marked it because we knew his Aunt Luella and then she asked me how I knew him. I told her how he was one of my biggest "fans" whenever I would sing at the Delavan Methodist Church. But, I never knew he was related to Luella. See, Luella was my mother's "best friend" and stood up with her when my mother married my father in 1946. We kept in touch with Luella all through her years and had even sent her a stuffed dog (a white poodle) while she was in the nursing home. They told us she carried that dog with her everywhere. I wish I had known that Michael was related to her and we would have had more to talk about than just music! I am sorry to hear of his death but I know he's enjoying all the splendors of Heaven just now and what a joy that is. My sympathy is extended to his entire family and I will keep you in my prayers as you grieve this loss on this earth. I rejoice knowing that I will see Michael in Heaven when God calls me home and then we will both be singing praises to our Heavenly Father and Lord. With sincerest sympathy, Martha Dunnam - Green Valley, IL

Dear Phyllis, My mother, Sandy Browne, told me about Mike. You and your girls are in my thoughts and prayers. You and Mike were a blessing to those of us at Waxahachie UMC. It was wonderful to be in UMW with you. I remember having Amy in my Sunday school class. With sympathy, Katherine Donaldson

I was so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He and I worked together in the Main Office at Corn Products in the early 1970s. He was a very nice man, very pleasant and a hard worker. Deepest sympathy to his family.
